Food, probably the third basic need of humanity (after air and water) can be problematic on the TI/YBI! San Francisco is known for its restaurants and culturally competant grocery stores. Living on a yet-to-be developed former navy base in the middle of this gustatory (sp?) smorgasborg can be frustrating. BUT, we do have options. In this section you can read and rate many of our options. Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site | Views: 1324 | E-mail | Read more... |

It's finally here. The Cooks Café. Don't tack on a possessive apostrophe. It's an acronym for Culinary Ongoing Outreach for Kontinuing (sic) Success.
I succumbed to their culinary outreach last weekend and got a tuna melt sandwich - very good. The pastry and cookie selection is not as much to my taste as the old Crossroads Café was, but the joint it still growing.

I often go to the Crossroads Café on Saturday for lunch. My ‘usual’ is the grilled tuna with Swiss and a fresh tomato slice. It’s a little luxury I enjoy. The food is good, prices low and the coffee great. I can even buy gourmet ground coffee or beans to take to home or to work.
This day I found Mike and Lee manning the kitchen. Last week Lee held down the fort on his own while the Treasure Island Market went on outside in the parking lot. The café windows look out on the Treasure Island marina where the rigging of the sailboats ring steadily in the wind. It seems like it’s always sunny here and many people eat on the outside patio instead of inside. Click title for more..
