Summary: SFMTA has proposed to reduce the frequency of runs on/to Treasure Island. This will greatly impact our lives. Good Neighbors has taken the lead in circulating petitions, attending meetings, and lobbying officials and MTA to rescind the proposed cuts. We have had much support from members, residents, TIDA, TIHDI, Catholic Charities, Swords to Plow plowshares, Job Corps, the Y, Walden House, and others in making our point that since we live on an island and the 108 is, for many of us, our main way on to and off the Island, the proposed changes will disproportionally affect us. To date, we have collected 300 signatures on our petition (attached) and have attended several meetings of various organizations to raise awareness of our concerns Click Read More to continue Next Steps: There are meetings you need to attend to express your concern. 1) The bi-monthly Treasure Island Community Meeting will be held on Wed., Feb. 17, 6:30 at the Shipshape. SFMTA will be there to hear our concerns. Please do your best to attend ! 2) The SFMTA Board Meeting previously scheduled for February 16, 2010 has been CANCELLED and RESCHEDULED to be on Friday, Feb. 26, 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. (ASL Interpreters will be provided) City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, Room 400. This may be our last chance to impact the proposed changes for Fiscal year 2010 -- Please try to attend. Sign the petition! While we have about 300 signatures, more is better! If you have not signed the petition, please do so as soon as possible.
